Healthy Player One Named SIIA Education Technology 2021 CODiE Award Finalist for Best Scholastic Esports Solution K-20
Healthy Player One earns prestigious industry recognition for anti-bullying and healthy gameplay software.
SIMI VALLEY, CA (May 20, 2021) Healthy Player One, the academic esports industry’s first solution to address the toxic gaming environment and game-related injuries, today announced that Healthy Player One was named a 2021 SIIA CODiE Award finalist in the Best Scholastic Esports Solution K-20 category. CODiE Award finalists represent applications, products and services from developers of educational software, digital content, online learning services and related technologies across the PreK-20 sector.
This CODiE Award recognizes “the best product helping implement scholastic esports to schools and colleges. This includes tournament/league management software, CTE curriculum focused on gaming and efforts to make esports safer and more inclusive.”
Healthy Player ONE is the first SaaS solution to proactively monitor and report on health and safety in academic esports.
Monitoring multiple players in an online environment is too difficult for a coach because communication happens in a headset. Healthy Player ONE is the ever vigilant superhero that can track, record and report all activities in a virtual environment. The coach’s dashboard gives immediate feedback allowing for prompt action when required.
One of the preliminary round judges who reviewed Healthy Player One wrote, “The Healthy Player One platform supports the development of gamers and provides schools and coaches significant peace of mind in implementation of esports.” She also said, “This is an incredibly helpful tool in curbing hostile behaviors in gaming. The capabilities of the platform are helpful in keeping interactions positive, contributing to a healthy, growing, learning, gaming community.”
SIIA judges will now vote for the winner. Here’s how Healthy Player One meets the judging criteria set by the SIIA CODiE awards for the Best Scholastic Esports Solution:
- Innovation: Healthy Player One is the only product that captures bullying and cheating via audio and video recordings and monitor usage for healthy game play.
- Platform Flexibility: Healthy Player One works with ANY esports game on gaming PCs (currently 1,100 games).
- Instructional Design and Academic Value: Healthy Player One addresses social emotional learning, creating a safe and inclusive environment for all students (including ELL and Special Needs learners). It addresses an issue that affects over 95% of student gamers.
- Feature Set: Healthy Player One protects students from harassment and injury and acts as a safety net, protecting coaches and schools from possible litigation.
- Usability: Healthy Player One has a typical learning curve of 15 minutes for coaches and 30 seconds for students.
- Feedback: Coaches can review reports of bullying, injury and excessive gameplay on the interactive coaches dashboard and discuss with their students.
- Scalability: Healthy Player One is a cloud solution, allowing for quick scaling. It has been adopted in K-12 and higher education settings this year and has partnered with key organizations including NASEF, NAECAD and Generation Esports.
Acknowledged as the premier awards program for the software and information industries for over 35 years, the SIIA CODiE Awards are produced by the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the principal trade association for the software, education, media, financial information and digital content industries. Healthy Player One was honored as one of 152 finalists across the 42 education technology categories.
“The CODiE Awards recognize the most exciting and transformative products in Ed Tech,” said Jeff Joseph, SIIA President. “This year, these leaders helped our nation respond to the historic pandemic, enabling learners, educators, administrators and parents to remain connected to each other and to critical educational resources via an array of innovative services and platforms. Congratulations to this year’s finalists for demonstrating the vitality, resilience and importance of this important industry.”
The SIIA CODiE Awards are the industry’s only peer-recognized awards program. Educators and administrators serve as judges and conduct the first-round review of all education nominees. Their scores determine the SIIA CODiE Award finalists which accounts for 80% of the overall score. SIIA members then vote on the finalist products and the scores from both rounds are tabulated to select the winners. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Business Technology category winners will be announced during an online winner announcement celebration June 22, 2021.
